Monthly Footpath Walks

Monthly walk on Parish footpaths on the last Sunday of each month. Starting at 2.00pm at the Village Hall Car Park.  The 2016 programme can be found in the Archive.

2:00 pm King’s Somborne Village Hall

5½ miles (8¾ Km)  2¼ hours

We leave the village along Winchester Road and up Red Hill before turning onto the path past Ashley New buildings.  At the crossroads we take the path across the field past Ashley Manor Farm and then over the hill to Chalk Vale before returning to the village past the beef unit and back along Winchester Road.

3½ miles (5¾ Km)  1½ hours

We start by heading across Palace Field and along the bridleway that heads south-west (Path 505).  On reaching Romsey Road we cross the road and follow the Roman road to Horsebridge and onto the Test Way.  Then it is north along the Test Way and back to the village via the Clarendon Way and Cow Drove Hill.

We leave the village along Winchester Road and up Red Hill.  We follow the Clarendon Way past Hoplands and then double back to Furzedown Road. Then we cross to Eldon Road and on to the old Roman road heading east. On reaching Romsey road we turn right again and take the footpath back to the start.

6½ miles (10½ Km) 2¾ hours

We leave the village along Winchester Road and up Red Hill. We follow the Clarendon Way past Hoplands to Ashley Down where we join the road for ½ mile before turning North along Gypsy Lane. After ¼ mile we turn West past the Roman Settlement and on to Ashley before returning along the Ashley straight and back to the village.

2:00 pm King’s Somborne Village Hall

6½ miles (10¼ Km) 2½ hours

We start by walking over the fields to Eldon Road and then south along Eldon Road to pick up the path through Humbers Wood to Lower Eldon Farm. From there we take the path to Brook and on to the Test Way. We turn north along the Test Way, passing Horsebridge and on to How Park before returning to the village via Froghole.
