There is another spate of email frauds going round form Western Union, but may involve a friend of yours! You may receive an email purporting to come from someone in the village you know well. It will state that your friend has had his bag stolen with his and his wife's passports, etc, and needs about 950 Euros, as he is stuff in a city in Europe. They will claim to have managed to obtain temporary ID from our Embassy, which would satisfy Western Union if presented at their office there if you can transfer the funds... Things to note (and especially in Europe) funds can be organised via your own bank in most of Europe and/or a replacement credit or cash card can usually be made available within 48 hours. |
