FOR YOUR INFORMATION Information for Land Rover owners. There is currently a national trend of Land Rovers, particularly the older style, being targeted by thieves. Recently we have had a few reports of theft of Land Rovers in the Hampshire and Sussex area. If you are a Land Rover owner please be aware and extra vigilant, please ensure that any vehicle is as secure as possible and if possible, placed in an outbuilding or garage out of sight. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Advice from Hampshire Horse Watch. We are receiving reports of the theft of horse rugs in the Hampshire area, on some of these incidents the rugs have been taken off of horses while out in the fields. Please consider marking your rugs conspicuously by painting your post code on them in big letters. This will make the rug less desirable to the thieves and easier for it to be identified if it should be stolen. Please consider this: Most tack and equestrian equipment is stolen so that it can be sold on as second hand. We all love a bargain and it is this that gives the criminal fraternity their reason for committing these type of offences. We are their customers! If you are considering purchasing second hand equipment please just give some consideration to the following: ask questions about the history of the item you are buying, check it for any security markings that may make it identifiable as stolen property and if the price seems to good to be true then it probably is. If you have any doubts about the item then please do not buy it. If you have any information about who may be selling stolen items then please let us know. TACK MARKING SURGERY Country Watch and Hampshire Horse Watch officers will be at TDS Saddlers, Lymington Bottom, Four Marks on Saturday 25th February 2012 between 1000 and 1500hrs to mark tack and discuss any equine related matters you may have. If you have tack that you want to get marked now, then contact us in the usual way. |
