Prayers for week beginning 7 Dec 2025

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 7th December

This week, the second in Advent, we remember the message of John the Baptist, that the Kingdom of Heaven is near and we should wait in hope and peace. Here is a blessing to use and to ponder; “God the Father stir your hearts with the expectation of the Kingdom’s coming; God the Son assure you with the sign of its dawning; God the Holy Spirit quicken you with the pledge of its breaking.”

Please pray for God’s blessing on us and all in our Church and our parish as we try to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christmas. Pray for space and time in our busy lives to wait upon God and to seek His peace within us. Pray that His love and joy will flow through us so that we might be examples of His love in action in this place.

Please continue to pray for our search for an Associate Priest to live and work amongst us. Pray for patience as we readvertise, and discernment as we seek God’s plan for us. Pray for our projected “Alpha” scheme to begin in January. Pray that it will be a source of help and increased faith to those who take part. Pray that many will see it as an opportunity, want to join in and find new life and joy in the service of Christ the King.

Please pray for peace in this turbulent world. Pray especially this week for peace in the Holy Land and for all who are victims of war and violence. Pray for peace keepers and peace makers and for success and strength for those agencies bringing relief to the suffering.

Please continue to pray for our partner diocese in south Rwenzori, where the need for prayers and practical aid is urgent. Pray for all places where Christ’s people face serious deprivation including lack of clean water, schooling and medical supplies.

Please pray for those who are ill or suffering in any way at this time, and for those who are recently bereaved. Pray especially for the families and friends of Amy Denison and Movita Bird, that they will find comfort and reassurance in their mourning.

Pray that this special time of year will be a time of strengthening and increased hope for us all.
