PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 6th October
Our Harvest celebrations and here are some verses from Psalm 100 to help us rejoice in the bounty of harvest. “Know that the Lord is God. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures for ever, and His faithfulness to all generations.”
Please pray, with thanksgiving that the harvest has come again. Thank God for His faithful provision and for the wonderful plenty that we enjoy. Pray that He will help us to look beyond our daily bread and seek also the bread of heaven and the fruits of the life given by the Holy Spirit. Pray for all our celebrations of Harvest that they will enrich our community life and make Christ’s love known in this place.
Please pray for all who work for the harvest, for farmers, gardeners and all who gather and deliver our foodstuffs. Pray for those in places where the harvest is less bountiful and who struggle to feed their families each day. Pray that help will reach them and that our hearts will reach out to them in generosity and practical aid.
Please pray for better stewardship of the earth, for new ways of protecting the environment and for enriching the land. Pray for wisdom amongst those who govern and the will to make suitable changes even when they are costly. Pray for the vulnerable and those not paid fairly for their labours.
Please pray for those who are sick and in pain, for those who are sad and hurt. Pray that as we name those known to us in private, we may always offer gentle support and sensitive encouragement for their needs.
Please pray that God’s guiding hand will be upon our lives, making us grateful in truth for our blessed lives which are filled with plenty, and encouraging us to share more readily with those who have less.
