On the afternoon of Wednesday, 14th August, about 60 members and guests met at the Scout Hut to enjoy the annual WI cream tea. Unfortunately the wet weather meant we were unable to sit outside, but the hall soon filled up with people all eager to enjoy a welcoming glass of prosecco or sparkling elderflower pressè before starting on the freshly-made scones with jam and cream – cream on first, of course! – and fresh strawberries, followed by a welcome cup of tea.
The hall filled with the noisy chatter of people enjoying themselves, only quiet when a lovely bouquet was presented to Janet Pearson, in thanks for her many years of making cards for members’ birthdays, and later when the raffle was held.
All in all it was a great afternoon. All profits made are to be split between WI funds and BOAZ, a local charity.
