Prayers for 12th May

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 12th May.

Christian Aid week, and a reminder of the needs of so many living in extreme poverty alongside us. Here are some words from Psalm 1; “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season.” May our response to the needs of our world yield much fruit.

Please pray for the work of Christian Aid. Pray that many will give generously this week so that lives can be transformed in places known as the Third World. Pray for aid workers seeking to help those who are exploited and underpaid for their labour. Pray for help to reach the vulnerable and for better use of resources. Pray for an end to corruption and greed which run rampant in so many places.

Please pray with thanks for our families and friends and for the people with whom we share our daily lives. Pray for those who are lonely or isolated because of age or ill-health. Pray for those who find it difficult to make friends or be accepted.

Please pray for those recently married, or approaching their wedding. Pray for Chris and Sabine, for Eleanor and Lawrence, for Domini and Edmund, and for any others known to us. Pray that they will know the presence of Christ in their new relationships and that they will grow in faith and love as they embark on their lives together.

Please pray for all that is planned in our Church and village in the coming days and weeks. Pray for energy, harmony and bright ideas as we look towards the events of Spring and Summer. Pray that as a church we will be a beacon which brings the light of Christ to those we meet and with whom we work.

Everlasting God, open our eyes to see You acting in our lives, and open our hearts to understand what You do for us and what You call us to do to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
