PRAYER LIST for week beginning 10th October.
This week we celebrate Harvest and all the good things we enjoy. Our readings urge us to put our trust in God and not to be overanxious. Some words from psalm 121. “The Lord watches over you- The Lord will keep you from all harm-He will watch over your life; .. Both now and for evermore”.
Please pray with thankfulness for all the material ease and comfort of our lives. Pray that we will give as generously as we can of our bounty. Pray for understanding of the “ harvest” we should offer to our Lord. Pray for greater faith to trust in His care for us and His knowledge of our needs. Pray for those in our village who may be struggling with daily needs for their families. Pray that we might notice and find ways to help if we can.
Please pray for the Winchester Churches Nightshelter, renamed the Winchester Beacon, and for the work that is done there for those who have lost their way in life and are rough sleeping. Pray for the staff, volunteers and for all who support them, especially the Street Pastors who are often the first step towards rehabilitation.
Please pray for the work of all agencies across the world bringing relief from hunger and poverty wherever it is found. Pray for the role of the Church in this and for the goodness of God to be seen and His love and care for all His people to be made known. Pray for the work of the Church in our own land and particularly for our diocese, facing many challenging problems. Pray for wisdom and faith in God’s purposes and for trust in His promises.
A prayer of blessing for us; May you hear God’s voice, know His plans for you and feel His support. May you walk with God today, tomorrow and in the days ahead.
