Passion Sunday and two quotes from E.M.Forster and William Blake to help us reflect on our readings. “We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us”. “He who binds to himself a joy does the winged life destroy. He who kisses the joy as it flies lives in eternity’s sunrise”.
Please pray that, like the disciples, we will work together for our Church, village and community. Pray for delight in one another’s gifts and that we will enable everyone to make their contribution, large or small, in the service of Christ and His kingdom. Pray for increased understanding of ourselves and others and of the roles that God has planned for us. May we serve Him with obedience and joy.
Please pray for all who offer themselves in leadership of the affairs of the world, that they may uphold what is good and right. Pray for wisdom for those bearing the heavy load of making decisions which affect the lives of millions. Pray for those making decisions about the coronavirus and its treatment that they will have knowledge, courage and common sense.
Please pray for all who help our community through their work, by volunteering or by neighbourliness. Pray that we will be supportive and caring to those around us and be able to bring comfort and support to those in need. Pray for the sick and the fearful and those who are housebound. Pray that as a church we will make a difference in this place and show the love that Christ has for all His people.
Please pray for a safe and joyful reopening of our church next Sunday. Pray for Richard, as he takes his first service in Church for a long time, and as he awaits news of further treatment. Pray that we will all remember that God waits to do for us more than we can ask or imagine.
