AGM October 2007

Minutes of Annual General Meeting held at the Village Hall on 29 October 2007

Present:

Anne-Marie Hook, Louise Causer, Phyllis Bennett, Val & Keith Chapman, Mary & Ian Bradley, Lucy & John Green, Mike Reynolds, Angus Raby, Wendy & Bill Hartley

Apologies:

Vicki Grieveson, Andrew Causer, Sue & Roger Jackson, Penny & Tony Ward, Jean Lanning, Sheila & Richard Nevines, Eileen Reynolds

Minutes:

Wendy read the AGM minutes for 2006 as corrected previously.  There were no objections and therefore signed.

Matters Arising:

Keith asked if a note could be sent to Sue thanking her for having the Souffland's granddaughter last year.                                                                                                                         WH to action

Chairman's Report:

Wendy reported on another successful year.  The French dinner in February was a good fundraiser, raising roughly £400 including £180 from the raffle.  Many thanks to all the chefs and raffle organiser, John Green.

The visit by St Paul here for the weekend at the end of June coincided with very poor weather, but fortunately the chosen events made it a success.  We believe the French liked the Watercress Line journeys followed by the buffet meal in the Scout Hut and for some, joining in the party in the Village Hall.

Mary & Ian produced a nice report for the Gauntlet and also a plea for new members.

Due to other commitments, only Anne Marie went to the boules evening at the Cuckoo Pub.

Wendy thanked the officers, Sue and John, for their work over the year. Then John said we must thank Wendy & Bill for their efforts.

Treasurer's Report:

John handed out a copy of the accounts for 2006/2007.  There has been a similar pattern of fund raising and spending as before.  The transport costs for the French visit here were rather higher than last time.  The balance currently stands at £301.37.  Assuming there are 2 further fund raising dinners before their next visit, we should have sufficient to cover the normal type of events and transport costs.  John had not yet had the accounts audited and would shortly approach the other John Green from the village to do this.                                                                                                                               JG to action

Any Other Business:

Mary & Ian asked if anyone had the English copy of the D-Day Landings publication given to us by Claude Jussiaume.  John said he had it.                                                                                JG to action

Mike asked if we would be visiting France in 2008.  After a discussion, Wendy agreed to write asking them if we could go to St Paul in June.                                                                                  WH to action

Phyllis asked if we should be encouraging children to participate.  Wendy explained that previous experiences were rather negative.  What about asking the scouts?  Wendy will ask Richard Nevines who has been involved with them in previous years.                                                               WH to action

The meeting closed at 8.40pm and was followed by a wine tasting organised by John and Bill.
