Hampshire Air Ambulance

Nearly 300 Life Saving Missions

One hour after launching the Air Ambulance it was called to a motocross event on the Hampshire border to attend a male who had sustained a serious arm injury. The same day it was called by land ambulance crews to go to a Quarry in Rowner, Gosport to attend a child who had sustained serious leg injuries. Due to the location, the Air Ambulance was called in to transport the patient and it was able to land approx 100 yards away from the patient allowing the child to be quickly and safely transported to hospital.

Over two hundred textile banks including one in Kings Somborne at the village hall, have been have been set up across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to collect discarded clothing, shoes and household textiles, which will raise money to help fund this vital service. You can also raise money for the charity by recycling your unwanted mobile phones and inkjet cartridges. The company behind the scheme is Bag It Up Limited, which since June 2006 has raised over £120,000 for the charity. At the same time, helping the environment, many tonnes of unwanted goods have been diverted away from landfill and incineration in the area.

If you are a recycling company, supermarket manager, pub manager or large site owner and would like to have a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance textile bank on your site, please call Helen on 0870 3215506, or visit for further details of how to help through recycling. If you find a mobile phone freepost recycling envelope inside your copy of this paper, please use it to send your unwanted mobiles back to raise funds for the charity. Alternatively you can use your own envelope, and add the following freepost address: Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, Freepost London 16281, WC1N 3BR - No stamps needed!  Each phone received is worth an average of £5.00, and some are worth much more! For more information about the Air Ambulance, please visit or telephone 01962 892626.
