Kings Somborne Working Men’s Club is a long established non-profit members social club in the heart of Kings Somborne. Following a recent change in committee leadership, the club is entering a new phase of growth, development, and community engagement.
The club exists to provide an affordable, welcoming, and inclusive social venue for residents of Kings Somborne and surrounding villages. It offers members and visitors a safe and accessible place to socialise, participate in events, and support local community activities.
Kings Somborne Working Men’s Club has been an important part of the village community for well over a century. The club was originally donated to the working men of Kings Somborne in 1911 by George Hennessy of Compton Manor during his time serving as High Sheriff of the County. Since then, the club has provided a valued social space for local residents, supporting community gatherings, recreation, and village life across generations. The building also holds cultural significance, having been used as one of the filming locations for the well-known television series Worzel Gummidge, further embedding the club within the history and identity of Kings Somborne.
