Theft of Motorcycle from Kings Somborne

Message sent by

Claudia Pattison (Police, PCSO, Test Valley District)

Between the hours of 6pm on 03/10/2017 and 8.30am on 04/10/2017, a black and green Lexmoto Venom motorcycle was stolen from a car park in Humbers View, King’s Somborne. If you remember seeing or hearing anything suspicious, please call 101 and quote 44170384088.

We recommend the following:

  • Get a combined alarm and immobiliser fitted as these offer an excellent deterrent to would-be thieves. If someone tampers with your motorbike, the alarm will go off and the engine will not turn over so the thieves cannot ride the machine away.
  • Chains and padlocks are versatile forms of mechanical security. A good disc lock will put off casual thieves, but most will only delay a professional for a matter of seconds. U-locks are a better alternative.
  • Whatever type of lock you choose, always try to secure your motorbike to something which is solid and cannot be moved because the most common method of stealing motorbikes is simply to lift them into the back of a van. Also, try to keep the lock off the ground as this makes it harder to break.
  • Put security marking on as many parts of your motorbike as possible. As well as making it less attractive to thieves, this will increase the chance of getting your machine back if it is stolen and recovered. Mark parts with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), registration number and your postcode.
