King's Somborne Parish Council is the first tier of local government and comprises ten elected representatives of the community who serve for four years at a time and meet monthly in the Epworth Hall to debate and determine matters of interest to the Parish. All meetings are open to the public and dates of meetings and details of councillors can be found elsewhere on this site. The Council owns certain parcels of land around the Parish, maintains the children's playgrounds in King's Somborne and Up Somborne, and is the long lease holder of the Three Fields site. Councillors know the Parish and are actively engaged in various activities around the community, including taking or co-ordinating action to implement the proposals contained in the recently produced Parish Plan. They are entitled to be consulted on planning applications and are often consulted on other matters affecting the Parish or invited to represent a view to other authorities such as Test Valley Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, the Police, health authorities and providers of services.
